Why Nobody Should Freak Out Over AI

Why Nobody Should Freak Out Over AI
A lot of things have been said about the the book If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All by Eliezer Yudkowsky and Nate Soares. Many are saying that it is the most consequential book that security and defense consultants should all read. With AI tools and software, rapidly advancing, it seems so. What these folks tend to forget that mankind has not needed advanced tools to destroy itself.

Bad human judgement has been the main cause of conflicts in the last 2 centuries, leaders thinking that wars can be over in a fortnight and would result in benefits for their kingdoms or empires. What AI tools can do is deliver a systematic cost-benefit analysis to our leaders on the effects of launching a new war or conflict.

For those that still think that some computer program can destroy us all, here's a step by step process to stop it:

Step 1. Look for a wire and plug that goes from the server to the wall

Step 2. With a firm grip on the plug, pull the plug away from the wall

Step 3. Hold the plug and wire and ensure that the server LED lights are off
